PLA Starting Settings for the Bambu Lab A1
Use this as a Bambu Studio starting context, not as a tested A1/PLA profile. The available records establish an A1-bound Generic PLA preset and A1 hardware capability, but they do not document a controlled A1 print with a named filament product, firmware, plate condition, and result. Confirm the current installed profile before printing.
Assumed setup
This page assumes a stock Bambu Lab A1, the included 0.4 mm stainless-steel nozzle, a Bambu Textured PEI plate, and a current A1 machine profile in Bambu Studio. The A1 specification lists a 256 × 256 × 256 mm build volume, a 300 °C hot-end maximum, a 100 °C build-plate maximum, and PLA as an ideal material label. Those are capability boundaries, not recommended PLA process values.
Record the exact PLA brand and product, colour, diameter, dry state, firmware, Bambu Studio release, nozzle, plate, and model before treating the result as reusable. A1 Combo ownership does not make the printer enclosed or change the stock nozzle.

The A1 preset lists 0.4, 0.6, and 0.8 mm nozzle variants, but that compatibility label does not prove that every nozzle, plate, filament product, or layer height will print successfully. Keep the physical nozzle and the selected machine profile aligned.
Verification sequence
- Check identity before slicing. Confirm the A1 variant, installed nozzle, plate profile, PLA product, firmware, and Bambu Studio release. Make sure the selected profile is actually A1-bound and that inherited values are visible in the application.
- Inspect the first layer. Use a clean, correctly seated plate and a small first-layer or single-wall test. Keep early layers conservative; OrcaSlicer documents separate first-layer speeds, first-layer infill speed, and an early-layer slowdown ramp, but it does not establish a universal value for this printer.
- Check the small test for flow and cooling. Look for gaps, ridges, poor corners, weak bridges, or excessive stringing. Change one related field at a time and record the product, plate, nozzle, and slicer release with the result.
- Run a representative part. A small functional print is more informative than treating the preset as validated. Keep the result tied to its geometry, dry state, and desired outcome.
A clean first layer does not prove that the profile is portable to another A1 nozzle, PLA product, plate, firmware release, or slicer. Save a copy of the resolved profile with those conditions and label it as verified only after the physical test has been completed.
